The Hunter Hynds Unit of United Methodist Women held its November meeting at Stanley’s Chapel United Methodist Church with 10 members present.
President Chris Cheatham welcomed everyone.
Many prayer concerns were mentioned, followed by prayer by Emily Haynes. Mrs. Haynes read the minutes and Leanne Parnell gave the treasurer’s report and mentioned appreciation from Troy United Methodist Church for the postal donation for Operation Christmas Child. Ivey Parnell assisted in packing boxes.
A donation was made in honor of Clorissa Wyatt to the Lions Club Telethon.
Becky Barnes read a card noting contributions were sent to “Going the Extra Mile” in memory of Lucile Thompson.
Sandra McTurner presented the prayer calendar and read from Matthew 24:29-35.
Mrs. Cheatham used a reading from “A Time of Thanksgiving,” for the Response Moment.
Linda Winstead announced that the David Johnson Chorus would be singing at Dresden Elementary School Nov. 26 at 7 p.m.
Mrs. Cheatham presented the World Thank Offering Service.
The focal point was a cloth, candles, rocks and a water-filled bowl — all symbolic of portions found within the program of our need to free ourselves of things that weigh us down and prevent us from being at peace.
Ms. Winstead read the following scriptures: Psalm 37:5-6, Psalm 37:1-2 and I Peter 5:7 and led the group in singing “Have Thine Own Way.”
The unit’s Christmas gathering will be Wednesday at Sassafraz at 6 p.m.
