The residents had a wonderful Thanksgiving day with many visitors and volunteers making their day bright. The traditional meal was served for lunch by the dietary department. They prepare a delicious turkey and dressing meal each year for not only our residents, but their visitors as well. We hope that each one of you also had a wonderful holiday.
This week’s cover card winners were Inez Spence, Barry Flowers, Mary Clark, Gordon Hedges, Mag Yeargin and Sue Bailey. Each of these lucky winners received $1. Since everyone enjoys winning, we make sure that happens on one-line Bingo.
This week each of them received a chance at the prize bin filled with snacks and goodies. We have a large crowd of participants each week and we are grateful for help from staff, visitors and peer residents to ensure each can fully participate.
The sports events and games were the main focus of the activity calendar this week. The residents gathered for the country store on Tuesday afternoon. This is a game that gives the residents the opportunity to shop with play money. They start lining up an hour before the fun begins for this event. Ray Crowell was the winner of corn hole with 32 points and Mag Yeargin was hot on his heels with 31 points. Touchdown proved to be another one point separation in the winner’s bracket. Blanche Bullock finished in first with 16 and Dorothy Larson as runner-up. Bullock took first place again in lawn darts with an impressive 105. Yeargin was her second place finisher with 95.
On Monday afternoon, the ladies attended the fingernail painting session. It is held each week with a large assortment of shades for the residents to choose from.
The in-house beauty shop is also open each week on Tuesday and Wednesday giving the residents the full treatment by the end of the week.
Each morning the residents gather for devotional at 8:30 in the activity room. It is led by either Craig Moeller or staff. It is a wonderful way to start the day off.
Our Sunday morning services were led by Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church. They do an exceptional job each week. Sunday afternoon Adams Chapel Baptist Church was with us. They attend each fourth Sunday and the residents are always thrilled to have them. Religion is very important to the majority of our residents and being able to worship from the ease of the activity room is a true blessing for them. It is not possible for everyone to go out, so the community churches coming in means so much. Thanks to all of them for providing this service.
Our annual resident/family Christmas dinner will be held Saturday. Letters were sent to responsible parties and posted on the doors. If you have any questions, contact the facility.
