Visit to Dyersburg a split for Chargers

Westview’s boys raced past Dyersburg in the second half. The Lady Chargers never got that chance.
The Chargers and Trojans split a Friday night twinbill at Dyersburg, the Westview boys outscoring Dyersburg 41-32 in the second half for a 71-62 win after the Lady Chargers had suffered a 61-34 setback.
Westview hosts Haywood tonight.
Westview 71, D’burg 62 (B)
Jazell Baker led all players with 27 points, while Jordan Alexander-Davis had 13 points and Chris Evans added 10 for the Chargers.
The teams were on even terms throughout the first half, tied at 18 after one quarter and 30 at the half. Westview then outscored Dyersburg 25-13 in the third quarter to open a gap.
Baker his 14-of-16 free throws, and Evans connected on 10-of-14 at the line as the Chargers were a strong 32-of-41 on free throw shooting for the game.

The Lady Trojans were solid overall, hitting 25-of-57 field goals, forcing 24 turnovers and winning the rebound battle 28-22.
Jolyta Taylor scored 13 points, and both Kay K. Tate and Myah Taylor added 10 points each for Dyersburg, now 5-0. Published in The WCP 12.6.11
