SEASON’S BEST — A pair of Obion County Central players shared The Messenger’s annual award for Obion County Prep Football Player of the Year for their efforts during the 2011 season. Running back LaDevin Fair (left) and quarterback Trey Phipps show their awards along with longtime Messenger sports editor Mike Hutchens. Fair rushed for 1,421 yards and 18 touchdowns and added 27 catches for 313 yards and three more scores. Phipps directed the Rebels’ high-scoring attack by completing 173-of-258 passes for 3,013 yards and 38 touchdowns with just six interceptions. OC finished with a 9-3 record and advanced to the second round of the TSSAA Class 4A state playoffs.
