Completed arrangements are being announced for Robert Mack “Bob” Rhodes, 65, of Rives, who died Dec. 5, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
A memorial service is planned for 2 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church No. 2 near Rives, with the Rev. Rudy Ring officiating.
The family requests that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society or the Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.
He was born April 4, 1946, in Eccles, W.Va., son of the late Ray Otto and Dorothy (Staples) Rhodes. He married the former Carolyn Heathcock May 14, 1966. She died March 16, 1980. He then married the former Beverly (King) Wright May 28, 1994. She survives.
He was a retired employee of H&O Tool and Die, where he was a press operator for 35 years and was a Methodist. He was also a lifetime member of Jones-Walker Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4862 in Union City.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Vietnam.
Survivors also include three daughters and sons-in-law, Tammy and Bart Ashley and Tonya and Ronnie Owens, all of Troy, and Teresa and Mark Van Zant of Obion; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark and Beth Rhodes of Dyersburg and Timmy and Tina Wright of Troy; his granddaughter, Jansen Rhodes of Dyersburg; nine step-grandchildren, Brandy Brady and Ashley Prince, both of Union City, Brittany Laster, Adrienne DeVasier, Justin Wright and Jessica Wright, all of Troy, Airman Jake Heathcott of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., and Mark Van Zant Jr. and Kayla Van Zant, both of Obion; his brother, Thomas Rhodes of Carpenterville, Ill.; and six great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three sisters.
