Troy businessman Mike Scott has embarked on a new career, doing home inspections.
Scott is the owner/manager of Troy’s Homestead 2000, a job he has held for the past 18 years. Prior to that he owned and operated Scott’s Sports Center in Troy for about 10 years.
He is managing his new career as a certified home inspector as well as handling his position with Homestead 2000.
The name of Scott’s new business is West Tennessee Home Inspections. The telephone number for the business is 536-0200 and Scott’s cell phone number is 796-1625.
Scott completed 90 hours of study in order to become certified as a home inspector. He went to the American Academy of Home Inspections in Nashville. Scott said since earning his license he has done around 30 or 40 home inspections.
“My goal is to have a (home inspection) report in hand within 24 hours,” Scott said about his work.
When he conducts a home inspection, Scott does a thorough review of the plumbing, electrical and structural elements of a house and also checks the roof as well a the heating and air conditioning system. He details the conditions of all those areas of a house and provides a written report with accompanying photographs. He can provide a written report for clients or the report can be filed on the Internet.
Scott said he includes some recommendations when he discovers deficiencies, and that helps his clients when they’re addressing fixing problems with a house.
He recommended his home inspection service for anyone considering buying a house or for those buying a house to use for investment purposes.
