Harris performs with Dyersburg Symphony | Cy Harris

Cy Harris, master chief musician retired, was the tuba soloist with the Dyersburg Symphony Orchestra recently.
He was given a standing ovation afer playing Emmett’s Lullaby by G.E. Holmes.
Harris served 28 years in the Navy (1942-1970), two years in North Africa during World War II (May 1943-May 1945) and 20 years in the Naval Academy Band (June 1950-June 1970). He was principal tuba, string bass player, conductor, education and training officer, drum major and leading chief over 90-plus professional members of this elite band.
During his 20 years in the Academy Band, he participated in more than 1,200 concerts. He was born April 24, 1924, in Postville, Iowa.
