Willis Berry Gilliland, 75, of Union City died Dec. 3, 2011, at Baptist Memorial Hospital-Union City.
Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at White-Ranson Funeral Home, with the Rev. Eddie Mallonee officiating. Burial will follow in Obion County Memorial Gardens, with full military honors.
Pallbearers will be Keith Hager, Buddy Irvine, Ricky Morgan, Mike Morgan, David Denton and Tab Kirkland.
He was born March 28, 1937, in Union City, son of the late Barry and Alice Pearl (Suggs) Gilliland. He married the former Velta Mae Myatt Dec. 23, 1961. She died Sept. 16, 2008. He was a retired U.S. Navy veteran, having served for 20 years, and was also retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having been a letter carrier for 23 years. He was a member of Church of Christ and of Jones-Walker Post 4862 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Union City.
He is survived by two daughters, Sherry Kirkland of Lebanon and Cathy Russell of Union City; his son and daughter-in-law, Kip and Jenny Gilliland of Union City; five grandchildren and the spouse of one, Kristin Kirkland and Wade Kirkland, both of Lebanon, Abby and Frank Hawks and Heather Rae Gilliland and Andrew Gibson, all of Union City; two great-grandchildren, Cara Hawks and Nate Hawks, both of Union City; and his sister, Jean Hager of Florence, Ala.
He was also preceded in death by his sister, Martha Irvine.
