All was not lost on Greenfield’s 2011 football season.
Three Yellowjackets were selected to the 14A All-District team, as chosen by a vote of league coaches.
Linebacker/offensive lineman Payton Page, running back/linebacker Chance Black and running back/cornerback Austin Pence all received accolades on the all-league squad from Greenfield.
Page, a senior, was credited with 85 tackles defensively. He was a two-way starter, logging time on offense at tackle.
Black, also a senior, had 75 tackles on defense and three rushing touchdowns during G’field’s winless campaign.
Pence, a sophomore, had six total TDs — five rushing and one via a kick return.
League champion Humboldt had a monopoly on the district’s individual honors with Ryeon Wedley (Most Valuable Player), Daniel Blankenship (Defensive Player of the Year), Tevin Bryson (Best Defensive Lineman) and head coach Dan Bland rewarded for their efforts in the Vikings’ unbeaten march through league play for the second straight year.
