|A verbal altercation turned into a destructive brawl between two family members in Dresden on Thanksgiving day. |
In a report from Weakley County Sheriff’s Department Deputy Gary Eddings, both he and Sgt. Steve Fulcher were dispatched to 356 Rock McClain Road in Dresden in reference to a physical domestic dispute. The report stated that a family member had called 911 and reported that Wallace and Dexter Sowell had allegedly been fighting and, when the officers pulled up to the scene, they allegedly observed Wallace outside the residence in the front yard yelling.
Eddings then allegedly detained Wallace and attempted to calm him and afterwards spoke with Dexter about the sequence of events.
Dexter allegedly reported that Wallace had been gone three days, came into the house drunk and started yelling at Dexter. From there, Dexter stated a verbal altercation began and they allegedly continued the altercation in Dexter’s brother’s room, where the fight allegedly became physical. Dexter allegedly charged Wallace and, according to the report, both men destroyed the inside of the house, then made their way outside until the officers arrived on the scene.
The report stated Eddings spoke with Dexter’s mother and sister to determine the primary aggressor of the fight. Both men allegedly had blood coming from their noses and mouths.
The family members were allegedly divided on who started the fight, but both men were placed under arrest, transported to jail and now face domestic assault charges.
