GOLDEN POND, Ky. (AP) — Land Between The Lakes National Recreation Area is allowing people to cut a cedar Christmas tree again this year, as long as they first obtain a permit.
The permits are good through Dec. 24 and entitle a family to cut one cedar tree at no charge. Trees may be cut anywhere except areas within sight of U.S. 68/Kentucky 80 or The Trace, cemeteries, the Nature Watch Demonstration Areas, campgrounds, lawns or other mowed areas.
Permits, maps and cutting guidelines are available from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at the LBL Administrative Office and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the Golden Pond Visitor Center. The visitor center will close at 3 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
