We would to thank everyone for attending our annual open house. There was a wonderful showing of support from the community and family members. The building was beautifully decorated for Christmas and a delicious spread of appetizers and desserts were served. The residents enjoyed the visitors and the celebration.
This week’s cover card winners were Mary Clark (2), Lucille Prince (2), Bobby Bynum, and Dorothy Vitalo.
For one-line Bingo, each of the participants received a miniature flash light. They were all proud and intrigued by the prize.
We got into the spirit of Thanksgiving this week with a few special activities. The residents made scarecrows for their rooms in arts and crafts. For Tell Me All about It, everyone discussed favorite holiday memories and foods. We finished up on Friday with a harvest party. The residents were treated to chicken ranch spread with crackers, sweet potato chips, apple crisps and for dessert their choice of lemon ice box pie or key lime pie. Everyone had a great time.
The residents participated in four different sports challenges this week. Ray Crowell scored 12 points winning the doughnut toss. His second place finisher was Barry Flowers with 11 points. Barry came back to win at can collapse with Joyce Gatewood as the runner-up.
Sue Bailey was the champion at our basketball shootout with 16 baskets. Dorothy Larson was right behind her with 14 baskets. Bobby Bynum finished off our winners circle by scoring 630 points at the beanbag toss. Doris Bradberry put up a wonderful for second place.
New Salem Baptist Church was with us on Monday night. The residents loved having them and stated they always do a remarkable job. Liberty Church of Christ and Dresden First Baptist Church provided our Sunday morning services. They always do a terrific job and a crowd of residents join them each week.
The residents were treated to two wonderful musical performances this week. Martha Hayes and her husband put on an amazing show from the praise of the residents. Friends of Carmen Kelley held a terrific sing-along on Sunday afternoon. They had a wonderful group of singers and pianist with them. The residents love having these groups each month and always brag on their special talents and gifts.
We would like to thank Stacy Williams’ homeroom class from Dresden Middle School for providing our facility with a Thanksgiving banner. They did a great service with their 4-H project and it looked great hanging in the activity room. The GAs from Dresden First Baptist Church donated a multitude of wonderful Thanksgiving bookmarks, craft projects and cards.
The residents loved receiving the individualized gifts. Peggy Carr donated a huge bag of jewelry for the residents to enjoy shopping through at our next country store.

Our annual Resident/Family Christmas dinner will be held on Dec. 10. Letters were sent to responsible parties and posted on the doors. If you have any questions, contact the facility.
