A new home decor boutique is open in downtown Union City, featuring a wide range of home and garden furnishings and decor.
Tim Rudd and Kenneth Hutson have opened Garden House Boutique at 110 West Church St. Rudd is the design and creative partner and Hutson is the managing partner. Their retail boutique features reclaimed furniture, vintage fashions and even a coffee bar.
“In the near future, we will also serve dessert items,” Rudd said.
He offers clients his services in commercial and residential interior design and holiday decorating, for homes and businesses.
“Garden House Boutique offers beautiful things for yourself, your home and your garden in a boutique setting that is unique for this area,” Rudd said. “Many of the items in the store are one-of-a-kind custom designed or reclaimed vintage articles.”
Garden House Boutique also features holiday decor items and clients can enjoy a cup of coffee from the bar while they shop. Customers can also enjoy their cup of coffee while getting commercial and residential interior design and holiday decorating advice from Rudd.
The store features custom florals and due to excellent sourcing practices, most of the items in the store are offered for much less than customers would expect to pay in a boutique-type store, according to Rudd.
He has been involved in interior design for more than 15 years. Rudd studied design at Lambuth University and has worked in home furnishings, antiques and commercial and residential design in Greensboro, N.C., and Minneapolis, Minn. He has designed commercial displays for the International Furniture Market in High Point, N.C.
One of the more unique items in the store for the holidays is a large paper mache Santa Claus on display in the window. The item was designed for and used at Graceland during the holidays during the 1960s.
Garden House Boutique has a Facebook page which features some of the store’s merchandise.
