Gleason’s line success only drama vs. Martin

Gleason used the free throw line to win a low-scoring showdown with Martin on Thursday night.
The Martin boys needed no such drama in the second game.
Gleason and Martin split a pair of junior high games at the Bulldogs’ gym, Gleason winning the girls’ opener 21-16 and then the Panthers taking the nightcap 51-16.

Emily Bell scored all seven of her points in the fourth quarter, and Autumn Faulkner led all players with 11 points to push the Lady Bulldogs ahead.
Faulkner and Bell combined to hit 6-of-7 free throws in the fourth period, each with three and Bell with a three-point play among her total, as Gleason outscored the Lady Panthers 11-7 in the final quarter.
Faulkner hit a three-point basket in both the second and third quarters, but Martin got seven points, including a triple, from Atitiana Vincent in the third frame to pull within 11-9.
Vincent had nine points for the Lady Panthers.
Martin 51, Gleason 16 (B)
Garrett Sams and Parker Beal each scored eight points in the first quarter, hitting three field goals and two free throws, as the Panthers grabbed a 22-0 lead and cruised to the win.
Sams and Beal led Martin in scoring with 13 and 12 points, respectively.
