CARING COMMUNITY — J.P. Prather (left) of Union City went through the serving line to fill to-go boxes to be delivered to shut-ins during Tuesday’s day-long Community Feeding of the 5,000 serving at Union City First Baptist Church’s family life center. Food was placed into the container by volunteers Georgia Brown (center) and Alyssa Arnold, members of the Future Business Leaders of America at Westview High School in Martin. The traditional Thanksgiving meal was served Tuesday to anyone in the community who would benefit from a hot meal and fellowship with others. It was served at the host church’s family life center and from satellite locations across Obion County and many meals were also delivered to shut-ins, senior citizens and others. The food was donated and/or prepared by local churches, organizations, school groups, businesses and many individuals. The effort is based on the biblical account of Jesus feeding a multitude with a little boy’s meager lunch of fish and bread.
