CLARKSVILLE (AP) — A state wildlife official estimates two deer’s antlers were locked together in Montgomery County for at least 12 hours. Neither survived.
Dale Grandstaff of the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency said the recently deaths marked the first time in his 12 years on the job that he had seen two deer get their antlers locked.
The two large bucks apparently had been fighting. One deer’s neck was broken.
Grandstaff told The Tennessean newspaper that November is peak deer mating season in Tennessee, which likely contributed to the fight.
