A Troy man was charged with a weapons offense early today following an alleged altercation at a Union City restaurant.
Richard Jake Pryor, 51, of 811 Troy-Polk Station Road, Troy, was arrested at 12:04 a.m. today at Applebee’s at 1101 West Reelfoot Ave. and charged with possession of a firearm where alcohol is served or sold, according to a Union City Police Department report.
Police had responded to a disturbance call at Applebee’s, where witnesses claimed Pryor entered the restaurant’s bar area and grabbed a purse from his girlfriend, identified as Claudia O. Hennessee, also of 811 Troy-Polk Station Road. The two allegedly engaged in a verbal altercation both inside and outside the bar area, police reported.
While an officer was speaking with Pryor, he allegedly stood up and began walking toward one of the witnesses. Due to his alleged “aggressive behavior,” the officer checked Pryor for weapons and found he had a loaded .45 caliber handgun in a shoulder holster on his body, according to the report.
