The David Johnson Chorus kicks its 14th season into high gear by presenting its annual family favorite “Come Celebrate Christmas” concerts. People throughout the region have made attending these musical treats part of their holiday family tradition.
This year’s concert is a balanced blend of old and new.
Several songs will remind everyone how important home is during the holidays: “I’ll Be Home for Christmas,” “Nowhere Else But Home” and “The Christmas Song” (Chestnuts Roasting on an Open Fire).
Familiar songs like “Deck the Halls,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” and “It’s Beginning to Look Like Christmas” are sure to have the audience humming along.
No David Johnson Chorus concert is complete without their signature a cappella numbers. “Sweet Little Jesus Boy,” “Glory, Glory to the Newborn King” and “Run to the Manger” are stunning examples of this genre of music.
As usual, these David Johnson Chorus concerts will have a surprise that makes people smile and laugh. “North Pole Rock and Roll” will have the audience dancing in the aisles, a spokesman said.
A very special segment of selections from Handel’s “The Messiah” will be a highlight of this year’s “Come Celebrate Christmas.”
Join the David Johnson Chorus Saturday at 7 p.m. at Dresden Elementary School. In addition to a great night of music, a reception will follow the concert.
Adult tickets are $10; children and students are admitted free of charge. No advance tickets will be sold.
