Alvin Waco Smith, 73, of Union City died 1:10 p.m. Nov. 16, 2011, at his residence.
Graveside service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Obion County Memorial Gardens. The Rev. Jerry Leggett will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home 5-8 p.m. Friday.
Pallbearers will be Michael Smith, Trey Smith, Daniel Smith, Doudley Schleifer, Randy Connell and Ronnie Miller.
He was born June 30, 1938, in Gibson County, son of the late Alvin Isom and Maude (Beasley) Smith. He married the former Rebecca “Becky” Sutton Aug. 4, 1957. She survives. He worked for Union City School System and the former Reelfoot Packing Co. and was a Baptist.
He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Tim and Sandra Smith of Union City and Alvin and Tina Smith of Rising City, Neb.; five grandchildren, Amy Schleifer of Yorkville, Michael Smith of Union City, Kim Duke of Lincoln, Neb., Trey Smith of Norfolk, Neb., and Daniel Smith of Rising City; and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and five brothers.
