UT Martin sends 7 runners to NCAAs

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. — A total of six men and one woman from the University of Tennessee at Martin cross country squad competed against the best runners in the South this past weekend as they qualified for the NCAA regionals.
Coming off an All-Ohio Valley Conference second team mention, sophomore Colin Johnson recorded the best time for the men, completing the 10,000-meter course in 33:36.6.
Tallon Scott (34:33.4) and Adam Merook, who ran a 34:43.4, finished 10 seconds apart, followed by Benji Sparks’ time of 35:23.6.
Ryan Pett posted a final time of 35:32.0, while Vance Pounders and Josiah Roberts rounded out the scoring with times of 36:45.3 and 37:13.8, respectively.
On the women’s side, the lone Skyhawk representative was sophomore Hannah Wolters.
The Culleoka native generated a time of 11:29.3 on the 6,000-meter course.
