NASHVILLE-BOUND — Kaci Daugherty (center), a middle infielder starter for South Fulton since her eighth-grade season, signed a softball scholarship with Tennessee State University on Monday at SFHS. Daugherty hit .449 as a junior with 26 stolen bases and has 120 steals during her prep career that will include another season next spring for the Devilettes. Daugherty hit .461 as a freshman with an on-base percentage of .534 and batted at a .348 clip as a sophomore while helping SF to a third-place finish in the Class 1A state tournament. Helping her celebrate the occasion Monday and witnessing the signing were (sitting from left) her mother, Lisa, brother, Nick (standing, from left) veteran South Fulton head coach Curt Lee, her father, Keith, and SFHS Athletic Director Keith Frazier. Lee said of Daugherty: “She works hard on her game year-round and she’s created this opportunity for herself with that hard work. We’re awfully proud of her.”
