Curtis Ray Rice, 96, of Hickman, Ky., died 8:30 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2011, at Parkway Regional Hospital in Fulton, Ky.
Funeral services were to be conducted at 2:30 p.m. today in the chapel of Edmaiston-Mosley Funeral Home. Vernon Alexander was to officiate and burial was to follow in Hickman City Cemetery.
Pallbearers were his grandsons, Hec Rice, Bobby Rice, Kendall Rice, Jason Rice, Barry Rice, Brandon Rice and Lukas Rice.
He was born Aug. 14, 1915, in Humphreys County, son of the late Charles H. and Fannie Mae (Potter) Rice.
He had been employed at the former Brown Shoe Company in Union City and was a member of the former Church of Jesus Christ in Hickman.
He is survived by four sons and daughters-in-law, Darrell and Jo Ann Rice, Roger and Jeanie Rice and Johnny and Billie Kay Rice, all of Union City, and Curtis and Marlene Rice of Farmington, Ky.; his sister, Gladys Turner of Clinton, Ky.; and 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 53 years, Birdie Mae (Wilmath) Rice; his second wife, Wilma Edgin Rice; his son, Donald Rice; two sisters, Hallie Bullington and Christine Mills; and five brothers, Lloyd Rice, Robert Rice, Howard Rice, Raymond Rice and Paul J. Rice.
