ASSESSING THE DAMAGE – Taylor Automotive service director Bud Goudy (right) and Martin Police Department Lt. Eric Reed review the damage sustained to a Chevy Blazer Monday morning when the automotive dealership discovered it had been the target of a theft over the weekend. Taken from various new and used vehicles on the lot were catalytic converters and at least one battery and its housing. Goudy said the metal parts would yield around $25 each for scrap, although it would cost the dealership an estimated $800-$1,000 to replace. The car parts appeared to have been cut off with a reciprocating saw, according to Goudey and Reed. At least 12 vehicles were targeted. Anyone with information regarding the incident is asked to call Crimestoppers at 587-2611 or 1-877-364-TIPZ.
