Lou Ann Powers (left) accepted a donation for Santa’ Helpers from Lisa Williams of BancorpSouth to use toward the expenses incurred in the operation of Santa’s Helpers located in Dresden. Santa’s Helper’s is a year-round community help organization (501)(c)(3) that provides food, clothing and household items for individuals and families finding themselves in need throughout the year. The holiday season is especially difficult for the organization as they also support children with toys for families that otherwise might not be able to provide them. Santa’s Helpers welcomes any individual, family, church or civic organization that would like to sponsor a child or children for the Christmas holiday. Sponsors need only buy a shirt, pair of jeans or skirt, two inexpensive toys and socks, underwear or pajamas. A form is furnished providing the child’s or children’s sizes and toy preferences. All gifts are delivered to Santa’s Helpers at 117 Poplar St. in Dresden unless arrangements are made for pick-up. Santa’s Helpers can be contacted through Powers at 364-3130 (store) or 364-2113 (home). All donations are tax deductible.
