Miss Alcorn to wed Reese on Dec. 31

The engagement and forthcoming marriage of Melissa Kay Alcorn and William Andrew “Will” Reese, both of Nashville, are being announced today.
The bride-elect is the daughter of Dr. Will Alcorn and Debbie Morris Alcorn, both of Shelbyville. She is the granddaughter of Sam and Nellie Sue Morris, both of Winchester, the late Joe and Cornelia Alcorn, of Shelbyville and the late Mary Bess Morris of Tullahoma.
She graduated valedictorian from Shelbyville Central High School in 2006 and magna cum laude from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville in 2010, with a bachelor of science degree in business administration with a major in accounting. She received a master of accountancy degree with a concentration in tax at UTK in July. While in college, she was a member of Sigma Kappa Sorority, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and of the accounting fraternity, Beta Alpha Psi.
She is working as a tax consultant for Deloitte Tax LLP in Nashville.
The groom-elect is the son of Dr. Ed and Rosemary Reese of Union City. He is the grandson of Barbara Reid and William and Shirley Reese, all of Union City, and Judy Powell and the late Robert E. “Bob” Powell of Hickman, Ky.
He graduated in 2006 from Union City High School, where he graduated Top 10 of his class. He earned a bachelor of science degree in electrical engineering with a focus in power engineering from UTK in May. While in college, he was an active member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and Power and Energy Society (PES). He also completed three terms of co-op work with Kimberly-Clark in Loudon.
He is an application engineer in the design center with Schneider Electric in LaVergne.
The couple will wed at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 31 at the Wightman Chapel at Scarritt Bennett in Nashville.
A reception will follow at The Noah Liff Opera Center in Nashville.
