Bessie Louise (Lawson) Burton, 84, of Hornbeak died at Skyline Medical Center in Nashville Nov. 7, 2011.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at White & Mahon Funeral Home in Troy, with the Rev. Jerry Leggett and Barry Stover officiating. Burial will follow in Antioch Cemetery near Hornbeak.
The family will receive friends 5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be Chuck Harris, Kaleb Bingham, Dustin Norton, James Adams, Michael Lawson and David Jerdan.
The family requests that memorials be made to Obion County Hometown Walk of Hope.
She was born Oct. 18, 1927, in Mississippi, daughter of the late Auger and Hortense (Speck) Lawson. She married Frank Harold Burton Oct. 23, 1949. He died Jan. 20, 2002.
She had been employed at the former Salant and Salant in Troy and in Obion and was a member of Samburg Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Charles M. Harris of Cheatham County; her son and his companion, Harold Burton and Sherry Hopper of Hornbeak; three grandchildren, Wendy Bingham and Brandon Bingham, both of Cheatham County, and Justin Norton of Hornbeak; and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by three sisters, Ruby Adams, Beatty Oswalt and Bernice Lawson; and three brothers, Elmer Lawson, Eugene Lawson and William Lawson.
