This week’s cover card winners were Bonnie Carney, Ray Crowell, Lois Morris (2), Blanche Bullock and Dorothy Larson. For Thursday’s one-line Bingo, each of the participants received a goodie from the prize bin. It is filled with lots of diet-appropriate treats.
We play until everyone wins.
This week’s sports challenges were very competitive. Thyra Provine was the winner of shuffleboard with 210 points. Her runner-up was Lois Morris with 155 points. Ray Crowell was the victor of ring the chicken’s neck scoring 18. He won by only one point over Mag Yeargin. The basketball shootout was a lot of fun and ended with a three way tie for first place. Crowell, Morris and Blanche Bullock shared the winners circle.
Congratulations to our winners and all those who played and made great games.
The residents did a great job at mindbenders on Wednesday. The trivia time always brings out a smart crew of eager participants. Afterwards they enjoyed cookies.
On Wednesday night, they played the Wii, cards and games. It was a lot of fun and filled with good laughs.
For arts and crafts, the residents decorated bright orange paper with an assortment of Halloween foam stickers. They look outstanding and are proudly hung throughout the facility.
The residents have the final say in all our activities and their opinions count the most.
For this week’s social hour, they selected chips and dip. They were all pleased with heaping portions and soft drinks of choice. Also on the menu were snack cakes or puddings. Everyone seemed pleased with their choice.  Playing overhead they selected an oldies rock ‘n roll C.D.
Two wonderful musical performances took place. Martha Hayes performed Friday evening. She has great talent and always puts on a terrific show for the residents. Bill Brewer was with us on Saturday afternoon.
He does a remarkable job and the residents love having him.
Thank you all for providing such great entertainment.
Dresden First Baptist Church and Liberty Church of Christ provided our Sunday morning services at their respective times. They provide this blessing each week and we are so grateful. Adams Chapel Baptist Church provided the afternoon program. They always do such a wonderful job with song service and devotional.
The residents thank you all for joining us. Sharon Baptist Church provides the facility with a taping of their services that provides worship for our residents unable to come to the activity room and during levels. It is a wonderful outreach and we deeply appreciate it.
Oak Grove Baptist Church once again blessed our residents with a special love offering. This money is used to provide special activities and prizes. Your generosity is remarkable. Gleason First Baptist Church brought 52 bags of homemade cookies for our residents to enjoy. They were passed out and very well received.
Thank you all for the sweet gifts.
Halloween featured costume contests, parties and a special Relay event on Halloween night. A resident and employee costume contest was held Monday morning at 10 a.m.  That evening starting at 6:30 we had a Relay sponsored Halloween festival.
We had cake walks, games, music, concessions, costume contests and so much more. Admission was free to all residents and $2 for adults and $1 for children.
Small prices were placed on the games as well, but all proceeds went to Relay for Life. T-shirts were on sale for $10.
It was come and go and visitors had the opportunity to  participate in activities of their choice.
