Vandalism, theft to be prosecuted
Economic times are hard. Obion County has the second highest unemployment rate in the state and people are hurting.
But actions being taken by some Union City residents will not be tolerated and they’re being put on notice by the city.
City manager Kathy Dillon informed the Union City council members Tuesday night that the city has had a problem with a handful of water customers who have had their water turned off for nonpayment.
She said the customers are turning the water back on, breaking the locks and possibly damaging the water meters.
She said the city will start prosecuting these actions in Obion County General Sessions Court, with the offenders being charged with theft of city services and vandalism. Published in The Messenger 11.2.11
