| Mason McGrew |
School: Obion Central
Pos.: Wide Receiver
By the numbers: McGrew had yet another solid overall game for the Rebels as both a receiver and kicking specialist in Central’s 37-27 loss to Dyersburg. He had four catches for 75 yards — three of those going for first downs — while also going three-for-three on extra point tries. The team’s most consistent receiver this season, he has 36 catches for 736 yards and seven touchdowns. McGrew also has connected on 33 PATs and has 89 points for the season.
Sound bite: “Mason’s been the most consistent player on our team,” Rebel head coach Shawn Jackson said. “He’s been a mainstay in almost everything we’ve done offensively. He always makes big plays for us, and he comes up with big blocks, too. He’s the cornerstone of what we do offensively.”
HONORABLE MENTION: Marcus Parr, OC senior receiver, pulled in six passes for 127 yards and two scores, giving him 1,067 yards and 122 points on the season; Trey Phipps, OC senior quarterback, connected on 18-of-29 passes for 310 yards; Keylon Hyde, UC junior fullback, gained 80 yards on 21 carries in the Golden Tornadoes’ 29-0 loss to Humboldt; LaDevin Fair, OC senior running back, had 115 total yards of offense with five catches for 84 yards and seven rushing attempts for 31 yards and two TDs.
