MPD reports successful Drug Takeback Day

MPD reports successful Drug Takeback Day
Martin Police Department reports that the Prescription Drug Takeback Day Saturday was a huge success. Martin police  collected 144 pounds of unwanted, unused or out-of-date prescription medication from the community.
With the help of the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association and Van’s Pharmacy, officers of the Martin Police Department stood watch as citizens from all over the local area brought their old, unused medications to the Prescription Drug Takeback in downtown Martin Saturday morning. The medications were picked up Monday afternoon by the Drug Enforcement Administration and taken to a separate location for incineration.
The D.E.A., MPD, Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association, Van’s Pharmacy, and the Weakley County Prevention Coalition would like to thank all those that participated. Plans are to provide this service again in the coming years.
