Bradford teacher arrested for drugs
A Gibson County elementary school teacher was arrested on drug charges Wednesday afternoon.
According to a report from Sgt. Dave Chaffin of the Bradford Police Department, shortly before 5 p.m. Wednesday, Capt. Spencer Johnson pulled over a black Chevrolet S-10 truck, having received a report that the motorist was driving recklessly and had run another vehicle off the road.
The driver of the vehicle, Jeremy A. Shackleford, 34, a teacher at Bradford Elementary School, allegedly admitted to Johnson that he had taken some pills, but the amount and type were unspecified. The report stated that when Shackleford left his vehicle to perform field sobriety tests, a prescription pill bottle was allegedly found in the driver’s seat with the original label torn away and with two distinct types of pills inside.
After attempting the tests, Shackleford was arrested for driving under the influence of an intoxicant and unlawful possession of Schedule IV drugs. He provided a blood sample in compliance with Tennessee’s implied consent law and the lab analysis is pending.
