Submit your ‘ones’ story Posted: Tuesday, November 1, 2011 8:02 pm California resident Ron Gordon is once again celebrating a calendar oddity this month with 11/1/11 and 11/11/11. “Story Days are here,” he said, adding “Two days in November are more special than you thought. It’s in the date: 11/1/11 and 11/11/11 — See? ‘Ones Upon a Day’” Gordon is encouraging everyone to “write a story, read a story or climb a story” to celebrate. The people who right the best short story or poem will have the chance to win a portion of $1,111.11 to be divided among the best 11+11+11 entries. The stories or poems must start with “Ones Upon a Day.” “Have fun, be creative and clever, and maybe you’ll be one of our winners,” he said. Entries must be completed by Nov. 22 and may be submitted in a message on Facebook at http://www.facebook.com/eventphp?eid=108202592625326 (on Facebook, search: Ones Upon a Day Contest), by email to rongordon135@gmail.com or in the postal mail to Ron Gordon, Box 5133, Redwood City, Calif., 94063. “After 11/11/11, be patient, because there isn’t another until next century (1/1/2101),” Gordon said. “These days are like calendar comets — you wait and wait and wait for them, then they brighten up your day — and poof — they’re gone. “The simplest way to celebrate Ones Upon a Day? — just share it with friends. Greet them with the news of the day, and they, in turn, can tell another. It’s kind of like a secret that you can’t help sharing. A little math, a little smile, a little fun — that’s Ones Upon a Day!” Published in The Messenger 11.1.11 , , , , |
