A 95-year-old Union City resident has been scammed, according to a police report.
Myrtle Harton reported to the Union City Police Department on Friday that a white male showed up at her back door about 10 or 10:30 that morning and claimed he did some repairs to the roof of her residence and that the bill for the repairs was $375.
She told the officer that she was confused about what the man was telling her and, because she was confused, she wrote him a check for the amount he requested. She said the man told her his name was Richard Chamberlain.
Mrs. Harton told the officer she did not ask anyone to do any repairs to her residence.
At the time the report was taken that afternoon, the check had already been cashed.
