The second suspect being sought in Tuesday’s robbery at a Union City convenience store is in custody.
Demetris “Pontiac” Shearer, 21, of Fulton was arrested in Memphis Sunday at 2:22 a.m. on an unlawful possession of a weapon charge, according to Union City Police Department investigator Derrick O’Dell, who said the Memphis charges are not involved with the Union City charges.
He was being sought after the early-morning robbery at Pockets Shell at 1605 West Reelfoot Ave. in Union City.
O’Dell said the warrants obtained on Shearer are for charges of aggravated robbery, theft, unlawful possession of a weapon by a convicted felon and tampering with evidence.
Michael Danner, 23, of Fulton was charged Wednesday with aggravated robbery, theft and tampering with evidence.
The robbery at Pockets Shell occurred shortly after 2 a.m. Tuesday, according to Union City police. A store employee told police an unknown man entered the store brandishing a handgun and fled with an undisclosed amount of cash.
No injuries were reported.
