RETIRED TEACHERS MEET — The Obion County/Union City Retired Teachers Association recently held its October meeting at Lakeview Restaurant at Reelfoot Lake. Vice president Jettie Huff opened the meeting with the pledge to the United States flag. Ina Orsborne read the minutes of the August meeting. Gloria Howell gave the treasurer’s report and Mary Dunavant read thank-you notes and reported on the Reelfoot Rural Ministry food drive. Mrs. Huff introduced guest speaker Morris Fair Sr. (second from left) of Jackson, president of the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association. He spoke about membership. Fair was greeted by Jim West (left), Dr. Bobby Williams (second from right) and Robert Orsborne. The meeting was adjourned and a Dutch treat lunch was enjoyed by 32 members. Hostesses for the meeting were Nancy Baldridge and Andrelle Burrus. The next meeting will be Nov. 17 at the Obion County Museum, with state Rep. Bill Sanderson as the speaker.
