The battle lines have been drawn.
For the third straight year and sixth time since the TSSAA began some sort of playoff system for its member schools in 1969, all three Obion County schools will be involved in the postseason when it begins Friday.
Obion Central, matching its best regular season in the 51-year history of the program with eight victories, will make its 10th playoff appearance and look for just its second playoff victory ever when it travels to Memphis to play 7-3 Fairley.
The Rebels (8-2) will come into the Class 4A postseason as a sixth-seed, the Bulldogs a No. 3 in the West quad.
The two have played once before in the playoffs — in 2009 — when Fairley won a close 34-28 Round 1 matchup.
Both Union City and South Fulton made the 24-team Class 1A field despite sub .500 regular season records, each finishing at 4-6.
The Golden Tornadoes have the higher seed — a No. 4 — and will host charter school Memphis Academy of Health Sciences, another 4-6 entry and the West Quadrant’s fifth seed.
The Lions are in just their third year of competing in the TSSAA.
UC, meanwhile, has a 31-18 all-time playoff record that includes winning the Class 1A state title and three other appearances in the finals. It will mark the Twisters’ 20th year to make the playoffs.
South Fulton had to sweat out the final regular season Friday with an open date and was one of the last teams to make the single-A bracket.
The Red Devils are a sixth seed and will meet up with No. 3 Gleason (5-5) in a rematch of a Week 5 game that SF won convincingly (35-6) on the Bulldogs home turf. Gleason will again be the host team on Friday, marking the first time ever  the school has hosted a playoff game.
It is a similar scenario to 2009 when the two played during the regular season, then again in Round 1 of the playoffs.
Gleason won that regular season meeting 34-21, with the Redmen gaining revenge in the postseason, 34-6.
