Sharon arson case reset in circuit court
The court process continues for two Sidonia men indicted on arson charges in regard to a structure fire that happened in early July.
A lengthy investigation after the balze by the combined efforts of the Sharon Fire Department and the Tennessee Bomb and Arson Department resulted in the eventual arrest of James Cobb and Zachary Fowler.
Both the Sharon and Sidonia fire departments responded to the fire at 8:05 a.m. on July 8 at 1101 Bob Miles Road in Sidonia.
The fire was extinguished with minimal damage to the structure, but the lack of a meter on the house and the burn patterns in the structure pointed to the cause of the fire being arson, according to an orginal press release issued by the Sharon fire Department.
The investigation was led by Sharon Fire Chief Gary Eddings and special agent Ron Powers.
Several suspects were interviewed and a written statement was obtained from Cobb and Fowler allegedly acknowledging they set the fire, according to the news release.
The men were indicted by the Weakley County grand jury on Sept. 6.
The pair was scheduled for a court appearance in Weakley County Circuit Court Thursday in front of Judge William Acree.
Their case was continued to Nov. 10.
They are each being charged with Class C felony arson.
