Hunters for the Hungry cause in full swing

Hunters for the Hungry cause in full swing
The Weakley County Hunters for the Hungry is once again working with We Care Ministries to provide as much venison as possible to hungry people in Weakley County.
Deer hunters donate deer and money raised – mostly through church donations – pays for the processing.
Last year, 6,584 families were fed with a total of 188,702 pounds of food. All recipients were screened and all who received the food were deemed needy of the food they received by the staff at We Care.
This project will cost at least $20,000 this year – most of which will be used to pay for deer processing. After all deer processing has been paid for, additional money will be used to buy other meat products such as beef, burgers, pork, chicken and more. Every penny will be used to feed the hungry of Weakley County.
Because of the economy, goals this year have been set the same as last year and the goal is to raise as much money as possible to help the needy. With the help of the community, the goal should be surpassed.
Love offerings can be sent to either Weakley County Hunters for the Hungry, First State Bank, 109 University St., Martin, TN 38237 or Feed the Hungry Meat Fund, We Care Ministries, P.O. Box 292, Martin, TN 38237. Both accounts are the same and will feed meat to the needy people of Weakley County.
Nov. 6 has been designated as Love Offering Sunday and community members are asked to support this effort through local churches and other organizations.
