Sidney Ellen Stone, 77, born and raised in Hickman, Ky., died Oct. 25, 2011, at Baptist East Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
Services will be Saturday at First United Methodist Church in Hickman at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in Hickman City Cemetery. The Rev. Nancy Varden will officiate.
Visitation in Louisville will be from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Highlands Funeral Home. Locally, friends may call at the church from 1:30 p.m. until the hour of services Saturday.
Strong Funeral Home in Hickman is in charge of local arrangements.

She graduated from the former Hickman High School in 1952 and attended Christian College in Columbia, Mo., before going to the University of Kentucky in Lexington. She earned a degree in education from UK and spent her life afterwards in Louisville, where she taught in the Louisville and Jefferson County school systems for 40 years at both Shawnee and duPont Manual high schools.
She is survived by her brother, Charles Stone of Lexington, Ky.; two cousins and the husband of one, Melinda and Tom Travis of Benton, Ky., and Linda Ketchum of New York City; two nieces and their husbands, Helen Burnett and Lee Sessions of Atlanta and Linda and John Witty of Chattanooga; three nephews and their wives, Sid Allen of New Orleans, Mike and Maribeth Burnett of Portland, Ore., and Tom and Debbie Burnett of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; six great nieces and nephews and five great-great nieces and great-great-nephews. She is also survived by Dolores Mullins, long-time friend and caregiver.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Rosco Stone, who were from Hickman; two uncles, Sidney Ray Hamby and Kent Hamby; her aunt, Mozelle Travis; and two sisters, Agnes Burnett and Shirley Allen.
