Carrie Coleman of Dresden recently completed a Ph. D. in microbiology from the University of Louisiana Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, La.
She is a graduate of Dresden High School and the University of Tennessee at Martin. Coleman served as a biology and microbiology lab instructor at UT Martin. before attending Louisiana.  
While working on her Ph.D., she wrote and received a grant for the American Heart Association for her research. During graduation at Louisiana. she also received the Chancellor’s Award for the microbiology department.  
Coleman is presently serving in a post-doctorate position at the University of Florida in Gainesville. She is the daughter of Randy and Sandra Coleman of Dresden and the granddaughter of the late Richard and Betty Blackmon Rushing of Jackson and Bobbie Jones Coleman and the late George Coleman of Martin. She is also the sister of Tim Coleman of Dresden.
