SEWANEE (AP) — Former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen says he will campaign for President Obama.
Meeting with the editorial board of the Chattanooga Times Free Press, the Democratic former state chief said, however, that Tennessee Democrats need to re-envision what the party is about.
Before going on to a speech at the University of the South in Sewanee, Bredesen said the political left isn’t going to abandon Obama and the election will be won or lost in the middle of the spectrum.
Bredesen and former Vermont Gov. Jim Douglas— a Republican — appeared at the university forum, promoting political cooperation. Douglas pointed out that eventually the people’s business must be accomplished.
