| Union City police are investigating an early-morning robbery at a convenience store, with the community’s help sought in identifying a suspect and a person of interest. |
The robbery occurred shortly after 2 a.m. today at Pockets Shell, located at 1605 West Reelfoot Ave. in Union City, according to a Union City Police Department report.
A store employee told police an unknown man entered the store brandishing a gun and took an undisclosed amount of cash. No injuries were reported.
The robbery suspect is described as a light-skinned black man who was wearing a gray hoody and dark purple shorts, according to police investigator Derrick O’Dell. He reportedly ran out the door toward the store’s car wash area and onto the Walmart parking lot toward a dark-colored Ford Expedition (see related photos, Page 12).
Police are also seeking a black man in a black sweatshirt who is being described as “a person of interest.” Investigators need to speak with him about what he may have witnessed while he was in the store.
Photos of both the robbery suspect and the person of interest, as well as a suspect vehicle, have been taken from store surveillance video and are being reviewed by police.
