TASTE PROCEEDS — The Taste of Ken-Tenn Food and Wine Event was held recently at Kiwanis Park in Union City to raise money for Main Street-Union City, Masquerade Theatre and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee, all in Union City. Seventeen restaurants served food. Rotarian Clay Woods (not pictured) introduced the idea for the fundraiser and spearheaded the event. Organizers have said the first-ever taste event was a huge success and plans are already under way to have a similar event in 2012. Presenting and receiving checks from the proceeds of the event Thursday afternoon were (from left) Taste committee member Lesley Anderson, presenting to Selle Shanks of Masquerade Theatre; Ron Green of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest Tennessee, receiving from Taste committee member Eric Beardsley; and Main Street executive director Phyllis Rauchle, receiving from Taste committee member Angie Morrow. Mrs. Shanks and Mrs. Rauchle helped organize the event, while Green was also instrumental in the day’s events.
