| LaDevin Fair |
School: Obion Central
Pos.: Running back
By the numbers: Fair was a playmaker in a wild and exciting game filled with big plays as the Rebels were outscored, 50-36, by Covington in a battle of Class 4A Top 5-ranked teams last week at Rebel Field. A leader offensively all season for Central, Fair was certainly that in this game as he piled up 223 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries while also catching a TD pass. For his efforts, Fair went over 1,000 yards rushing and 100 points with still two regular season games to play, now at 1,017 yards and 102 points.
Sound bite: “We’ve been working to feed him that much all year,” OC head coach Shawn Jackson said. “He’s played only halves all year and still has over 1,000 yards rushing. We were finally able to get him the ball the number of times he deserves and the number we need to win. I hate to use the term ‘workhorse,’ but that’s what he is. He’s trustworthy in that he doesn’t fumble the ball or turn it over. He’s just that kind of person.”
HONORABLE MENTION: JaQuay Garmon, SF junior quarterback, completed 10-of-21 passes for 264 yards and two TDs in the Red Devils’ 35-21 loss to Lake County; J.P. Fowler, SF junior running back, had six receptions for 153 yards and a score; Trey Phipps, OC senior quarterback, was 18-of-34 passing for 257 yards and two touchdowns; Tanner Cary, OC senior receiver, had eight catches for 131 yards and a TD.
