West State Line Road in Fulton has reopened following a short closure early this morning for a minor train derailment.
KY 116/West State Line Road was reported closed in Fulton for a short time this morning due to a train derailment. Rail cars that came off the track scraped the support structure of an overpass at KY 116 mile point 12.994, between Stephen Beale Drive and Sunset Avenue on West State Line Street in Fulton.
Keith Todd, public information officer for District One & Two of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, announced at mid-morning that KY 116 and other roads in the area were reported open with normal traffic flow. A Kentucky Transportation Cabinet inspector was headed to Fulton to check the overpass, simply as a precautionary measure.
“An initial check of the overpass support structure indicated only superficial scrapes on the concrete,” he said.
Fulton County (Ky.) Emergency Management director Hugh Caldwell reported no hazardous materials were involved in the derailment and no injuries were reported by the railroad.
