Bishop Lawrence L. Reddick III, the son and grandson of renowned Christian Methodist Epis-copal Church pastors the Revs. Lawrence L. Reddick Sr. and Lawrence L. Reddick Jr., will be visiting Mt. Zion CME Church in Union City in celebration of the congregation’s 115th anniversary Sunday at 3 p.m.
The church is pastored by the Rev. Darrell Turner and opened its doors again four years ago after a period of inactivity.
“Bishop Reddick, the 51st elected bishop of the CME Church, is a scholar and a profound preacher,” Turner said. “He has been editor of The Christian Index for 16 years and has been presiding elder of the church. His knowledge of the CME Church is quite extensive.”
The bishop is secretary of the CME Church’s College of Bishops and chairs several committees and boards. He is vice chair of the board of trustees for Miles College and is a founding member of the Alabama Faith Council.
Reddick is married to the former Wynde Jones and the couple make their home in Memphis. They are the parents of five children and the grandparents of two.
In honor of the congregation’s celebration and the bishop’s visit, a city proclamation was recently issued.
A meal will be served following the service.

The community is invited to attend.
