The annual Oktoberfest event was held Oct. 8 at Festival Park in downtown Martin. Rolling Thunder® TN-Chapter 6 provided concessions and helped sponsor the event.

The event would not have been possible without volunteers and partners: Downtown Divas Soccer Team; Mink’s Magical Family Entertainment; Pam Turner; Mike Havrila-Aaron’s Rentals; The Arts Co-op (David Sheridan, Lagena Hill and C.T. Hill) Brian Bennett; Ken-Tenn Sports; the Weakley County Chamber of Commerce; and Zimm’s Nursery.

Additional Christmas activities are planned for this year beginning with a Tree Lighting Ceremony set for Dec. 3 at 5 p.m. as well as horse and carriage rides.
Local choirs and bands are being sought to add to the ceremony and hot chocolate will be served.
On Dec. 3 the Christmas season officially kicks off with the arrival of Santa and his elves to Santa’s house in Festival Park, with an appearance to be made around 11 a.m.
The organization also decided to make a donation to Lance Young, a dedicated partner to the Martin Historic Business District, to help with his medical expenses.
