Bettye Ruth (Buchanan) Scott, 87, of Troy died at her home Oct. 14, 2011.
Services were set for 11 a.m. today at Troy United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Judd Mowery officiating. Burial was to follow there at Terrace Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were to be Hoyt Sampson, Sam Griffin, Ned Bigelow, Gary Buchanan, Baxter Sanders, Robert King Pardue and Robert Orsborne.
The family requests that memorials be made to the organ fund at Troy United Methodist Church.
White & Mahon Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born Jan. 11, 1924, daughter of the late John Koss and Ruth (Cude) Buchanan. She married Wilba Gray Scott Sept. 12, 1944. He survives. She was a graduate of Bethel University in McKenzie and had taught school in the Obion County School System for 30 years. She was a member of Troy United Methodist Church and the Tennessee Retired Teachers Association.
She is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Gray and Beverly Scott of Dyer and William E. and Lee Scott of Port Orange, Fla.; two grandchildren and their spouses, Cody and Amy Scott of Franklin and Elechia and Erid Harrison of Old Hickory; five great-grandchildren; her brother, John Cude Buchanan of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her grandson, Kevin Michael Scott; and her sister, Lela Lucille Moss.
