Union City police are investigating the apparent theft of several cases of soft drinks from a delivery truck Thursday.
Jerome Porter of Henry, a delivery driver for Pepsi Mid America of Marion, Ill., told police he was making deliveries about 11:15 a.m. when he discovered the theft of products from his truck, according to a Union City Police Department report.
He reported the theft must have occurred while he was at the Little General store at 302 West Main St. in Union City between about 8:30 and 8:45 a.m. Thursday, but it was not discovered until about 11:15 a.m.
The stolen items include 17 1/2 cases of Pepsi, valued at $173.25; 13 cases of Mt. Dew, valued at $128.70; and 10 cases of Dr. Pepper, valued at $99. They were taken from the right side storage unit of a trailer pulled by a white 2010 Peterbilt tractor, according to the report.
