Game Day
Covington @ Obion Central
PLACE, TIME: Rebel Field; 7 p.m.
2011 RECORDS: Covington 6-1 (4-0); OC 7-0 (4-0).
COACHES (RECORDS):  Covington: Marty Wheeler (27-32 in 6th season); Obion Central: Shawn Jackson (25-24 in 5th season).
LAST MEETING: 2010. Covington won 35-30.
SERIES RECORD: 2010. Covington leads 17-6.
KEY PLAYERS: Covington — RBs Colliar Robinson and Johnston White, RB/LB Carlos Burton, QB Britt Dunn, OL Walt Downing, DL Jadarius Temple. Obion Central — QB Trey Phipps, LB Josh Quinton, RB/DB LaDevin Fair, WR/LB Marcus Parr, WR/DB Mason McGrew, LB Nathan Spaulding.
OUTLOOK: An overflow crowd is expected in Troy for what is being called the biggest regular season game in OCCHS history. Rebel head coach Shawn Jackson was released from the hospital on Wednesday and was back at practice on Thursday after being a patient for more than a week while battling diverticulitis. Third-ranked Central had last week off, but comes in averaging 42 ppg. The Rebel defense meanwhile, has not given up a single point in either the first or third quarter. A run-oriented Covington offense will likely give the county locals their most-stern test of the season though. The No. 5 Chargers lost promising tailback Carlos Williams, who rushed for 309 yards vs. the Rebs last season and for more than 1,200 a year ago, to a season-ending torn rotator cuff earlier. Fullback Terrence Pierson was also injured, but will make a full-time return vs. Obion Central. In the absence of Williams, Colliar Robinson and Johnston White have shined in Covington’s Wing-T offense, Robinson rushing for 188 yards and five TDs on just 11 carries in a rout of Haywood last week.

South Fulton @ Lake Co.
PLACE, TIME: Bill Wray Field; 7:30 p.m.
2011 RECORDS: SF 4-4 (2-2); Lake Co. 5-2 (2-1).
COACHES (RECORDS): South Fulton: Kelly Spivey (22-19 in 4th season); Lake County: David Barger (51-43 in 9th season).
LAST MEETING: 2010 — South Fulton won, 40-34.
SERIES RECORD — Lake County leads, 25-13.
KEY PLAYERS: South Fulton — FB/DL Cody Tatum, QB JaQuay Garmon, HB/SS J.P. Fowler, LB Willie Kneuppel, WR/DB Harrison Hawks. Lake County — WR/RB Rafael Tyler, RBs Devon Jones, Ricky Boyd, WR Caleb Bledsoe, QB Nick Price.
OUTLOOK: Much like last season, the Red Devils are limping down the stretch with a playoff berth hanging in the balance. SF lost two-way starter Chase Hamlin to a gruesome broken leg last week, and has a handful of other players banged up coming into the second of a critical three-leg race against fellow contending teams in District 14A. Lake County, which is coming off a stirring come-from-behind win over UC after trailing by as many as 16 late in the first half, will likely be looking for some revenge for last season when the Devils knocked them from their No. 5 state ranking perch with an upset. Tyler was unstoppable with 259 receiving yards and three TDs.
